Senior Exit Interview Expectations

Student Reminders & Tips

Appointment Details
  • Check with the College & Career Center for interview date, time, location, and updates.
  • Arrive about 10-15 minutes before your interview time, giving yourself time to park and check in.
  • Bring an updated, clean, unfolded printed copy of your resume.
  • Dress in business casual attire.
  • Your interview will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
Before the Interview
  • Practice your answers to the interview questions. All students will be asked question #1, plus 2-3 additional questions from the list.
  • Choose appropriate business casual attire. Your outfit should be clean and wrinkle-free. You do not need to buy new, expensive clothing. Here are some outfit ideas:
    • Tops: button-up shirt, polo, blouse, or sweater (optional: add a blazer or cardigan!)
    • Bottoms: dress pants, khakis, dark wash jeans, or a knee-length (or longer) skirt or dress
    • Shoes: loafers, oxfords, flats, dress shoes, boots, plain sneakers, or modest heels (they should be clean & close-toed!)
During the Interview
  • Take a deep breath, relax, and be yourself! Your interviewer is excited to meet you.
  • Greet your interviewer with a firm handshake and a smile.
  • Introduce yourself clearly and with confidence.
  • Stand until you are offered a seat.
  • Provide a copy of your resume to the interviewer.
  • Maintain good posture and natural eye contact with your interviewer.
  • Answer questions completely, avoiding short, vague answers. You can take time to think before answering. Pace yourself and avoid rushing your answers.
  • At the end of your interview, stand, smile, thank the interviewer for their time, and shake their hand.
