Happy New Year from the College and Career Center!

Sophomores:

College and Career Specialists are meeting with current 10th grade students throughout the next couple of months to assist and advise in post high planning. We are here to share resources and opportunities to help students prepare for their future. The 10th grade Xello lesson is on Resume Building. 10th grade is a perfect time to explore interests and build skillsets, think part time employment, volunteering, coursework... Xello lessons for the current year are due February 28. Sophomores must be complete in Xello to be eligible for the parking lottery their junior year.

Juniors!!

Interested in IB, Running Start or WANIC? Mark your calendars for upcoming information sessions and learn if these programs will help you achieve your future college and career goals.

  • IB overview: January 15, 6p in the Lyceum Theater-9th and 10th grade students and families. Student and advisor Q&A flextime session, January 29, in the Lyceum Theater- 10th grade only.
  • Running Start Information sessions, both lunches in the College and Career Center: February 13. Running Start application workshops will be hosted during flex time in the CCC on 2/26, 3/12, 4/8, 5/14 and before school on 6/11.
  • WANIC Open House: March 28 at 5-7p at Lake Washington Technical College.

SAT and college applications: Juniors! Review your college lists to know what schools will require test scores for admission. Skyline will host the SAT on March 19.

Great Careers

Great Careers is back and better than ever! On February 27, 2025, Great Careers will take place at Bellevue College. Students will tour Bellevue College, listen to a career panel presentation, connect with professionals and exhibitors in select career pathways representing certified and apprenticeship programs, military and two-year college programs.

Transportation and lunch are provided, and raffle prizes will be won! Don’t miss out!

Volunteer

Creekside Elementary will be headed to Camp Colman April 28-20, 2025. A minimum of ten male and eight female volunteers are needed. Information packets can be found here or in the College and Career Center, room 1202. Applications are due February 10, 2025, and interviews will take place March 3-6, via zoom. This is a wonderful opportunity to earn volunteer hours in a fun and exciting way that really has an impact on kids! If you think you would be interested in becoming a volunteer for this event, please apply! *Applying does not guarantee an interview. Must be 16 by April 28, 2025, to be eligible.
